Futsal kommt vom portugiesischen ''Futebol de Salao'' und bedeutet Hallenfußball.
Und genau das ist es auch: Hallenfußball nach international geltenden FIFA-Regeln.
Seit dem WS 10/11 gibt es im Bonner Hochschulsport diese Fußball-Variante, die mit einem sprungreduzierten Ball gespielt wird. Das Spiel mit dem etwas kleineren und schwereren Ball fördert die technischen Fertigkeiten, steigert die Handlungsschnelligkeit, erhöht die Motivation der Spieler und reduziert das Verletzungsrisiko. Gespielt wird mit fünf Spielern (inkl. Torwart) pro Mannschaft.
Futsal ist keine Konkurrenz zum Fußball, sondern eine Ergänzung und Unterstützung.

Since WS 10/11, this football variant, which is played with a jump-reduced ball, has been available in Bonn's university sport. The game with the slightly smaller and heavier ball promotes technical skills, increases the speed of action, increases the motivation of the players and reduces the risk of injury. The game is played with five players (including goalkeeper) per team.
Futsal is not a competition to football, but a complement and support.
